Local Business Website In Your Local Area

Tradesperson van parked outside house

My Webby builds websites for local businesses across the UK, using AI to get trades and small firms online quickly. If you're a plumber, electrician, gardener or salon owner looking for a local business website in your local area, this page explains what that site needs to do and how we go about it.

Why a local trade website still matters

Most people looking for a tradesperson start on their phone. They search, they glance at a few results, and they pick someone who looks real and easy to contact. A social media page can help, but it doesn't always show your service area, your prices or how to reach you at 9pm on a Sunday.

A website is the one place online you control. It says who you are, what you do, where you work and how to get hold of you. It works while you're up a ladder or under a sink.

What a local business website in your local area needs

The basics do most of the heavy lifting. You don't need anything clever, you need the right information in the right places.

Your service area, written out

"We cover the local area" tells a search engine nothing. Name your town, the villages around it and the postcodes you'll travel to. If someone searches for a roofer in their town, your site should actually contain that town name.

What you do, in plain words

List your services the way customers say them. "Boiler repairs", "emergency call-outs", "bathroom fitting". Not "comprehensive plumbing solutions". People search in plain language, so write in plain language.

A way to get in touch

Phone number near the top, tappable on a mobile. A contact form for people who'd rather type. Opening hours, and whether you take emergency calls. If someone has to hunt for your number, they'll ring the next firm on the list.

Proof you're real

Photos of your own work beat stock images every time. Reviews, a trading name, the area you're based in. People want to know they're dealing with someone local, not a call centre.

Pages that load fast on a phone

Most of your visitors are on 4G, standing in a kitchen with a leak. A slow site loses them.

How we build sites for local trades

We use AI to do the heavy lifting on the build, then make sure the result reads like a real business wrote it. You tell us about your trade, your area and your services. We put the site together and you check it over.

If you want to see the step-by-step, how it works walks through it. And if you'd rather see finished sites first, there are examples to look at.

We work with a long list of trades and local businesses. You can see the full list on who we can help, and there are pages for individual trades too, like plumbers, electricians, gardeners and hair salons.

Local SEO: being found nearby

Getting a site built is step one. Getting found is step two.

Local search works differently to general search. Google tries to show people businesses near them. That means your website needs to make your location obvious, and your Google Business Profile needs to match what's on your site.

A few things that help:

  • Consistent details. Same business name, address and phone number everywhere online.
  • Town names on the page. Not stuffed in awkwardly, just written naturally where they belong.
  • A page per main service. If you do boiler servicing and bathroom fitting, those deserve separate pages.
  • Reviews. Ask happy customers. They matter for ranking and for trust.

Local SEO is one of the services we offer alongside the build.

Leads, not just a pretty site

A website that looks nice but never brings in work is a waste of money. The point is enquiries: calls, form submissions, bookings.

That means clear calls to action on every page, forms that are short enough people finish them, and a way to keep track of who got in touch. We cover leads and CRM as part of what we do, so enquiries don't get lost in an inbox.

What it costs

Prices for local business websites vary a lot, and it's not always obvious what you're paying for. Some builders charge monthly forever, some charge once and then bill for every change.

We've set out our pricing openly, and written a longer piece on how much a website costs if you want to understand the market before you commit. There's also how we compare if you're weighing us up against DIY builders.

Changes after launch

Your business changes. You add a service, change your hours, move premises, take on a van. Your site should keep up.

We handle website changes rather than leaving you to work out a dashboard. If you'd rather do it yourself, that's fine too, but you shouldn't have to.

Getting started

If you run a local business and you want a website that shows up when people nearby search for your trade, we can help. Have a look at who we can help to find your trade, or get in touch and tell us what you need. You can also book a meeting if you'd rather talk it through.
