What is Hostinger good at?

Hostinger is a hosting company, and its website builder sits in the same account as your hosting and domain. It says you can drag, drop and launch in minutes, with 600+ designer-made templates to start from, or describe your idea and let AI create a starting design.

It also says hosting, a domain name, SEO tools, email and marketing integrations come with it. So if you want to build the site yourself, with everything under one company, it's a sensible place to start.

What do you actually do with the Hostinger builder?

Hostinger describes its builder as a drag-and-drop editor. You pick a template or describe your idea, and then you work on the site yourself. Every page after the first one is yours to plan, write and lay out.

For a small business that usually means a home page, a page for each kind of job you do, an about page and a contact page. You choose what goes where, change the wording, drop in your pictures and press publish.

Then there are the jobs nobody sees. Checking each page on a phone, setting the title Google shows for each page, pointing the contact form at the right inbox and sorting out where your old address should go. Each one is small. Together they take a good few evenings.

A template, or a description of your idea

Hostinger says you can choose from 600+ templates, or describe what you need and get a first version in seconds. It says the same for online shops: describe the shop in a few words, or pick a template.

Either way, what you get is a starting point. It's a layout with the sections in place, and the rest is for you to finish. You decide which sections stay, what each one says and which photos go in.

With us the starting point is different. You answer a short set of questions about your business, and in about five minutes you see a design made for it. You can ask for another option if it isn't right. Once you like one, an expert builds the whole site from it. You don't pay anything until it goes live.

Who writes the words?

Hostinger says its AI can create original website copy, from headlines to product descriptions. That gives you a draft to work from, and you read it, check it's true for your business and change what isn't.

A page about the work you do has a job to do. It should say what you do, who for, how far you travel and what happens when somebody gets in touch. You know all of that, so it's down to you to put it in.

With us your expert writes the pages after asking you about the work you want more of and how you like to run a job. They come back in plain English and you tell us what to change. You're reading and approving, not writing from scratch.

Most people we talk to have one or two pages they've properly written and a few more that are mostly headings. That's the usual result when the building is done around a day job.

Pictures and your logo

Hostinger says you can make a logo that fits your brand in seconds with its AI logo maker. If you don't have a logo yet, that's a quick way to get one in front of you.

Photos are still your job. People ringing about work want to see that you've done it before, and pictures of your own finished jobs tell them that better than anything else on the page. You choose them, crop them and place them on each page.

With us you send what you have, and WhatsApp is fine. Your expert picks the best, crops them and puts them where they'll do the most good. If you have nothing usable yet, they use images that suit your trade and swap them for yours as they come in. They also check it all on a phone before it goes live.

Which one gets you found on Google?

Hostinger lists SEO tools as part of what comes with its builder. They're tools, so you use them. You decide what each page should be about and fill in the titles and descriptions yourself.

People search for a job and a place, like boiler service Leeds, wedding photographer near me or dog groomer Bristol. One page covering everything you do doesn't match those searches well. A page for each job, written around the words people type and with your town in it, does.

We set that up when we build the site, on every page, because it's easier at the start than later. Your portal also shows you who is visiting, with no cookies and nothing that identifies anybody. If you want more, the weekly SEO content add-on is an article a week and a monthly report, monthly with no minimum term.

Keeping the site up to date

Six months after launch, something will have changed. Your hours might be different, you might offer a new service, or a photo might be out of date.

On a builder you do that yourself. You log in, find the page, make the change, check it on a phone and publish. When life gets busy that job slips, and the site starts telling people things that are no longer true.

With us you message your expert from your portal and they make the change, usually the same day. It's the same person each time, so they already know your business. Changes are free while we build and for 30 days after launch, then a one-off fee each, shown before you confirm. Nothing is charged unless you say yes.

The customer hub add-on collects your enquiries in one place with a status on each, so you can see who's waiting for an answer. Trades can send a quote the customer accepts online, and appointment businesses get online booking from their own services and hours.

How do you move from Hostinger to My Webby?

We build you a new site rather than copy the old one across. Your expert takes the words and photos from your current site as a starting point, then asks you about anything that's missing.

Your Hostinger site stays up the whole time. When the new one is ready you look at it and tell us what to change. Only after you've said it's right do we point your domain at it.

If your domain is registered with Hostinger, you can leave it there and point it at the new site, or move it to us. Your expert sorts that with you either way. If you have email on that domain, we work around it and don't break it.

Which one is right for you?

If you want to build the site yourself, Hostinger's builder is a good place to do it. You get a drag-and-drop editor, a library of templates and your hosting and domain from the same company.

If you want a finished website and building one isn't how you want to spend your time, that's us. You answer a few questions, see a design in about five minutes and an expert takes it from there. Most sites are live within a week.

The monthly price covers the website, your domain, hosting and the security certificate, plus backups, updates and website analytics in your portal. There's no build fee. The website has a 12-month minimum term and is billed monthly. Add-ons are monthly with no minimum term. You approve the finished site before it goes live, and you pay nothing until it does.

Questions about My Webby and Hostinger

Can you move my Hostinger site over?

We build you a new one rather than move the old one. Your expert works from the words and photos on your current site so nothing is lost, and your Hostinger site keeps running until the new one goes live. Send us the address when you start.

Is My Webby cheaper than Hostinger?

We don't quote what Hostinger charges, because their plans change and vary by tier. Our price is on this page and it includes the build, the domain and the hosting, with business email added per mailbox. Compare that with a Hostinger plan plus the time you'd spend building the site.

Can I edit the site myself like I can on Hostinger?

No. You message your expert and they make the change, usually the same day. If you want to edit it yourself, Hostinger is the better fit. You can follow every change you ask for in your portal.

Hostinger says AI can write my site's copy. Why would I need an expert?

Hostinger says its AI creates original website copy, and you can use that as a first draft. You still read it, correct it and add what only you know about your work. With us your expert does that part, and you approve the result.

What happens to my domain?

If it's registered with Hostinger you can leave it there and point it at your new site, or move it to us. Your expert sorts that with you before the site goes live. A domain we register for you is yours after twelve months.

How long until my site is live?

You see a design in about five minutes. After you approve it your expert builds the full site, and it's usually live within a week. You pay nothing until it goes live.
