Websites for solar and ev charger installers
What a solar and EV charger installer website has to do
This is a big purchase made slowly. Somebody has read about panels or a home charger, asked a neighbour and looked at three or four installers over a few weeks. They want to know you're certified, that the job is done to the rules and what will actually happen on the day.
So the site leads with who you are and what you're certified for, then makes the next step easy: a quote form that asks the questions you'd ask on a first call. A page for solar, a page for chargers and a page for batteries means each customer lands on the one they came for.
Getting found for solar panels and EV chargers
People type solar panel installation, solar panels with battery storage, EV charger installation or home car charger, usually with a town or a county on the end. Others type the question behind it, such as whether solar panels are worth it on a north-facing roof.
You get a page for each job you want more of, written around those words. The titles, descriptions, sitemap and structured data go in when we build the site. With the SEO add-on we put a new article up every week and link it back to your service pages, which suits a purchase people research for weeks.
MCS, OZEV and NICEIC, said plainly
Certification is the sales pitch here. MCS certification is what lets a customer's solar installation qualify for export payments under the Smart Export Guarantee. OZEV approval is what an installer needs for customers to claim a government chargepoint grant where one applies. NICEIC, or another competent person scheme, shows your electrical work is certified to the building regulations.
Your certificate numbers, your insurance and the consumer code you belong to go on the site where people look before they ask for a quote. If you only do one of solar or chargers, the site says so, and doesn't imply a scheme you aren't in.
How your installer website gets built
Answer a few questions about your business, what you install and the areas you cover. A homepage design comes back in under five minutes and you look at it first. There's no card and nothing to install.
Then one of our website specialists builds it out with you: your home page, a page for each thing you install, your certifications and your finished jobs, checked on a phone and a laptop, then live on your own domain. After that a new product or a new certificate is a message to them. You pay nothing until the site goes live.
What happens when somebody asks for a quote
The form asks what you need to know to talk sensibly: solar, a charger or both, the type of property, roughly how much electricity they use and whether they have a driveway or off-street parking. It can ask for a photo of the roof or the consumer unit too.
The enquiry lands in your email within seconds. With the customer hub add-on it lands in your hub as well, with a status you set to contacted, quoted, won or lost, which matters when a sale takes weeks. Your website specialist sets the questions up with you before launch.
Solar and EV charger installers ask us
Will it come up for solar panel installers in my area?
Your site launches with a page for solar, chargers and batteries, written around the words people type, with the titles, descriptions, structured data and sitemap Google needs. Where you end up depends on your area and your competition, and it builds over months. The SEO and AI search add-on adds a new article every week, which suits a purchase people research for a long time. For enquiries straight away, Google Ads puts you at the top.
Can the site show MCS, OZEV and NICEIC?
Yes. Your certificate numbers go on the pages people read before they ask for a quote, with a line on what each one means for the customer. Send your website specialist what you hold, and only what you hold goes up.
I only fit EV chargers. Does that work?
Yes. The site is built around what you actually do, so a charger installer gets chargers pages and no solar ones. If you add solar later, it's a new page.
Can I put prices on the site?
If you want to. Many installers show a starting price for a standard home charger, or a typical range for a system, and say that it depends on the survey. Others only say what affects the price. It's your call, and your website specialist writes it the way you want it.
Can people upload a photo of their roof or consumer unit?
The quote form can ask for photos, and they arrive with the enquiry. A roof or a fuse board often tells you enough to give a ballpark before a survey. Tell your website specialist which questions you want asked.
Can the site have a quote calculator or take a deposit?
A calculator that works out a system size, or taking payment on the site, is a bespoke build, so it isn't part of the standard plans. Tell us what you need and we'll talk it through with you.
Should the site explain how a solar installation works?
Yes, it earns enquiries. A page covering the survey, the scaffold, how long the install takes, the DNO notification and when the panels are switched on answers what customers would otherwise ring and ask. Your website specialist writes it from how you really work.
I do both homes and businesses. Does the site cover both?
Yes. A homeowner and a business owner search for different things and worry about different things, so each gets their own pages. Commercial customers want to hear about payback, the size of system you handle and who the job manager is.
Can I add a product later?
Yes. Up to 10 service pages come with your website, one for each product or job. Ask from your portal whenever you like and it goes to your website specialist to write. Photos and wording changes count as a change request, and you get one free every month after launch, with any more at £49.99 each, shown before you confirm.
How long until my website is live?
Complete your brief and we launch within 3 to 5 working days. Most solar and ev charger installers are live within a week of signing up.
When do I start paying?
On the day your website goes live. You enter card details at signup, but nothing is charged before launch. If your site is ready and we do not hear from you for 14 days, we take the first payment, so your website specialist's work is not left sitting there. You can still go live whenever you are ready.
Is this a template?
No. Everything is built from scratch for your business: your words written, your logo and colours designed, your homepage laid out. One of our website specialists finishes the site with you before it goes live.
Do I need a card to see the design?
No. Answer a few questions and you will see a homepage design for your business in under five minutes. There is nothing to download, nothing to set up, and no card until you decide to go ahead.
Can I have a page for each job I do?
Yes, for the jobs you want more of. Tell your website specialist which those are. Each one gets its own page, written to be found for the words people type when they need it. Every plan includes up to 10, one for each service you offer, and you can ask for a new one from your portal at any time.
