Websites for tutors
What a tutor's website has to do
Parents and students look for a tutor by subject, by level and by when it fits. A parent wants GCSE maths on Tuesdays after school. A sixth former wants A-level chemistry before the mocks. They're choosing in the evening, on a phone, and they'll be handing a child over to somebody they've never met.
So online booking goes in the middle of the site, with your subjects, your levels and your prices behind it. You set the hours you teach and how long a lesson runs, and families book into what's left. Who you are and why you're good at this goes around it.
Getting found for the subject you want more of
People search for maths tutor, English tutor, 11 plus tutor, GCSE science tutor, A-level tutor and online tutor, usually with a town on the end. A parent in September types something different from a parent in January.
You get a page for each subject or level you want more of, written around those words. Titles, descriptions, a sitemap and structured data go in when the site is built, so a search engine can see what you teach and where.
Qualifications, DBS and what happens first
A parent wants to know your degree or teaching qualification, your experience with that age group and whether you hold an enhanced DBS check, ideally on the DBS update service. There is no single licence that tutors in the UK must hold, so what you can show matters more here than in most trades.
Say what happens at a first lesson, whether you teach at home, at theirs or online, and how you report back on progress. A parent who reads all of that books with fewer questions attached.
How your tutoring website gets built
Answer a few questions about your tutoring, the subjects and levels you teach and the hours you work. A homepage design comes back in under five minutes with online booking in it. You look at it first, with no card and nothing to install.
Then one of our website specialists builds it out with you: your subjects and levels, your lesson lengths and prices, your qualifications and your hours, checked on a phone and a laptop, then live on your own domain. After that, a new subject or a new price is a message to them. You pay nothing until the site goes live.
What happens when a family books
The family picks the subject and the length, and the booking screen only offers slots that fit. An hour of GCSE maths is never mixed up with a half hour primary catch-up. You both get a confirmation email.
The booking form can ask what you need before the first lesson: the student's year, the exam board, what they're finding hard. Your week shows in your portal as a list and a calendar, and moving a lesson takes a click and emails the family.

How does the booking actually work?
You set the hours you teach and how long each lesson runs, and families pick a slot on your website. You confirm it or move it in a click, and they get a confirmation email either way. There's nothing to install and no fee per booking.
Can I show my DBS check?
Yes, and parents look for it. Tell your website specialist the level of check you hold, whether it is on the update service and your qualifications, and they go on the page a parent reads before booking.
Can the booking ask which year and exam board the student is in?
Yes. Your booking form can ask for the year group, the exam board and what they're finding hard, and the answers arrive with the booking so you can plan the first lesson.
I teach online as well as in person. Does that work?
Yes. Each subject can say whether it's online, in person or both, and the booking form asks which the family wants. Online lessons mean you can show up in searches beyond your own town.
Can parents pay for a block of lessons online?
Taking payment on the site is a bespoke build, so it isn't part of the standard plans. Tell us what you need and we'll talk it through with you. Your block prices can go on the site meanwhile.
What do I need for the booking system?
The customer hub add-on. The booking system and your enquiries live in it, and Google review requests are coming soon. It's monthly with no minimum term.
Can I put up results and testimonials?
Yes, if you have permission. A parent's own words about progress, or grades a student is happy to share without their name, go on the page. Send them to your website specialist. Adding more later is a change request: you get one free every month after launch, and any more are £49.99 each, shown before you confirm.
Can lessons have different lengths and prices?
Yes. A half hour primary lesson, an hour of GCSE and a ninety minute A-level session can each have their own price, and the booking screen keeps your diary right because it knows how long each one really takes.
How long until my website is live?
Complete your brief and we launch within 3 to 5 working days. Most tutors are live within a week of signing up.
When do I start paying?
On the day your website goes live. You enter card details at signup, but nothing is charged before launch. If your site is ready and we do not hear from you for 14 days, we take the first payment, so your website specialist's work is not left sitting there. You can still go live whenever you are ready.
Is this a template?
No. Everything is built from scratch for your business: your words written, your logo and colours designed, your homepage laid out. One of our website specialists finishes the site with you before it goes live.
Do I need a card to see the design?
No. Answer a few questions and you will see a homepage design for your business in under five minutes. There is nothing to download, nothing to set up, and no card until you decide to go ahead.
Can I have a page for each job I do?
Yes, for the jobs you want more of. Tell your website specialist which those are. Each one gets its own page, written to be found for the words people type when they need it. Every plan includes up to 10, one for each service you offer, and you can ask for a new one from your portal at any time.
