Websites for solicitors
What a solicitor's website has to do
People look for a solicitor when something has happened: a house to buy, a relative who has died, a marriage that has ended. They're worried, and they're looking for someone who deals with exactly that and who will tell them what it costs.
So the site is organised by what has happened to them, not by the names of your departments. Conveyancing, wills, probate, family and employment each get a page. Your regulatory details are on every one, and an enquiry form and a phone number are never more than a tap away.
Getting found for the legal work you want more of
People type conveyancing solicitor, probate solicitor, divorce solicitor or how much does a will cost, usually with a town on the end. A page called our services can't answer any of those.
You get a page for each area of law you want more of, written around the words people use for it. Titles, descriptions, a sitemap and structured data go in when we build the site, so a search engine can see what you do and where. With the SEO add-on we put a new article up every week and link it back to those pages.
What the SRA expects on a solicitor's website
The Solicitors Regulation Authority sets rules for what a firm's website has to show. That includes that you're regulated by the SRA and your SRA number, your complaints procedure and the Legal Ombudsman details, your professional indemnity insurance, and, for certain kinds of work, clear information on price and timescales. Which rules apply to your firm is for you or your compliance officer to confirm.
We build the pages so that information has a proper place and sits where people see it, rather than buried in a footer. You supply the wording and your website specialist puts it where it needs to go.
How your solicitor website gets built
You answer a few questions about your firm, the areas of law you want more of and where you work. A homepage design comes back, usually in under five minutes, and you look at it before anything else happens. There's no card and nothing to install.
That's a first draft, and from there we do the work. Your website specialist changes anything you want and builds every page: your home page, a page for each area of law, your people and your regulatory information. We check it on a phone and a laptop, then it goes live on your own domain.
Your website specialist stays with you afterwards, so a new fee or a new member of the team is a message to them. You pay nothing until the site goes live.
What happens when somebody gets in touch
Every page has your number and an enquiry form. The form asks what you'd ask on a first call: the type of matter, a few details and the best time to ring. Keep it short. Someone dealing with a bereavement will not fill in a long form.
The enquiry lands in your email within seconds. With the customer hub add-on it lands in your hub too, with a status you can set to contacted, won or lost, so you can see who is still waiting for a call back. Your website specialist sets the questions up with you before launch.
Solicitors ask us
Will it come up when people search for "solicitors near me"?
Your site launches with a page for each of your main areas of law, written around what your clients type. We put the technical bits in too: titles, descriptions, structured data and a sitemap, so Google can see what you do and where. Where you end up depends on your area and your competition. The SEO and AI search add-on keeps adding new content every week, and it builds over months, not days. For instructions straight away, Google Ads puts you at the top, and Google Maps helps you show up on the map for solicitors near me.
Can the site carry my SRA number and complaints information?
Yes. Your SRA number, your regulated status, your complaints procedure and the Legal Ombudsman details go on the site, and your website specialist puts them where people can find them. We can't advise you on what the SRA requires of your firm, so check that with your compliance officer and send us the wording.
Do I have to put my prices on the website?
For some kinds of work the SRA's transparency rules expect firms to publish price and timescale information, and conveyancing is one of them. Which rules apply to you is a question for you or your compliance officer. Once you know, your website specialist builds the pages so your prices, what they include and how long it takes are easy to read.
I don't want the site to sound like an advert. Is that a problem?
No. The site tells people what you do, who does it, what it costs and how to get in touch, in plain words and without promising results. Your website specialist writes it that way and you read every page before it goes live.
Can clients send me documents through the site?
Not as standard. The enquiry form takes a message and contact details, and you shouldn't ask anyone to put identity documents or case papers into it. A secure upload or a client portal is a bespoke build, so tell us what you need and we'll talk it through with you.
Can I have a page for each fee earner?
Yes. A page for each solicitor with their photo, their areas of work and their experience helps people pick the person they'll deal with, and it gives search engines a name to match. Send your website specialist the details and they'll build them.
I'm a small high street firm. Is it worth having a good website?
Yes. People checking a firm after a recommendation, or after walking past, look at your website to see if you do the work they need. A clear site with your areas of law and your regulatory details turns that check into an enquiry.
Can I add a new area of law later?
Yes. Up to 10 service pages come with your website, one for each area you offer. Ask from your portal whenever you like and it goes to your website specialist to write. Anything you add to a page after launch is a change request. You get one free every month, and any more are £49.99 each, shown before you confirm.
How long until my website is live?
Complete your brief and we launch within 3 to 5 working days. Most solicitors are live within a week of signing up.
When do I start paying?
On the day your website goes live. You enter card details at signup, but nothing is charged before launch. If your site is ready and we do not hear from you for 14 days, we take the first payment, so your website specialist's work is not left sitting there. You can still go live whenever you are ready.
Is this a template?
No. Everything is built from scratch for your business: your words written, your logo and colours designed, your homepage laid out. One of our website specialists finishes the site with you before it goes live.
Do I need a card to see the design?
No. Answer a few questions and you will see a homepage design for your business in under five minutes. There is nothing to download, nothing to set up, and no card until you decide to go ahead.
Can I have a page for each job I do?
Yes, for the jobs you want more of. Tell your website specialist which those are. Each one gets its own page, written to be found for the words people type when they need it. Every plan includes up to 10, one for each service you offer, and you can ask for a new one from your portal at any time.
